Dehydrated Skin

How would we describe Dehydrated Skin

You may find yourself with “Dehydrated Skin” regardless of your regular skin type and at anytime e.g. during puberty onto your more mature years.

Your skin is most likely to feel quite tight and very thirsty for products. The skin may suffer very fine lines with a look like parchment especially around the eyes.

The skin’s pH level is important and we often relate/classify skin types by the Ph Level it has i.e. where it is in the Alkaline to Acid range and maintaining a slightly acidic pH of around 5.5 is critical.

Typical questions asked about Dehydrated Skin and some of our recommendations

Dehydrated Skin can occur on top of another existing skin problem or skin type, even Acne skin. So this needs to be addressed along side the predominant skin type.

Key factors here are an excess in such things as Alcohol and Caffeine for example which have a dehydrating effect and diet may need adjusting along with correct balance of skin care products.

You will need to use beauty and skin care products like Hydrating Boosters and Serums. These can be worked into your normal skin care routine but NOT Oil based as they need to be water based to re-hydrate the skin. The layering of products is important too.

One of the major culprits for radically changing the Ph level of the skin is the soap you use!!!

So, when clients come to our clinic an initial key question for us to ask is “What do you use to cleanse your skin?”

Some of the soaps presented to us have an equivalent alkaline level of AJAX, so would you put this on your skin?

So it is vitally important to check what you are using on your skin.

So, with the right balance of products and using of course them, will help to effectively maintain your skin in a healthy condition and keep it younger looking. We always advise Sun Protection for all year round and we always recommend a SPF30 protection level.

Under our Product Type listings we have grouped together certain products that we recommend for each skin type to help you establish what is best for you.
